Unfortunately, I haven’t been blessed with a natural sun-kissed glow. Instead, my skin tone would probably be described as ‘pasty’ tourist white. Because of this, I’m no stranger to fake tan.
Sadly, in my attempts to achieve a beautiful bronzed look, I’ve had my fair share of tanning disasters. Streaking, green armpits and just generally looking radio active.
So, when I heard about Cocoa Brown’s 1 Hour Tan fake tan, an award winning tan that develops depending on the shade your preference, I couldn’t help but be intrigued.
Unlike traditional tans, Cocoa Brown doesn’t have that tell tale fake tan biscuit smell, as it doesn’t have the DHA (biscuit smelling) ingredient. Instead there are accelerating ingredients in Cocoa Brown that mean that the tan doesn’t stay on the skin’s surface so long.
The day before application, I ensured I exfoliated to prepare my skin, paying particular attention to the rough areas of my body, like hands, knees, elbows, ankles and feet.
The next day when it came to applying the tan it couldn’t have been simpler. I just used a few pumps on a tanning mitt and because of the colour you can see where you’ve put it. I found I had to do a bit of careful rubbing in to avoid streaks. Once it was on, I let it dry and waited. I wanted quite a dark look so I went to bed and let the tan develop overnight…
The next morning I awoke like a very tanned excited child on Christmas day. After a quick shower I was very pleased to see no streaks but a healthy glow.
I’d definitely recommend Cocoa Brown to my friends and I’ll be sure to use it again.
Cocoa Brown is currently £7.99 at Superdrug
