Opening with the cast singing in colourful clad zumbathon, booties moving side to side, the fun gets going from the off!
Written and directed by the award winning, Kay Mellor, Fat Friends the Musical tells the story of a Super Slimmers Group, including bride-to-be, Kelly, played by Jodie Prenger, desperate to lose weight to fit into the wedding dress of her dreams.
Loving her whatever her size, Kelly’s fiancé is played by cricket legend turned TV star, Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, delivering a faultless performance as the loveable (albeit slightly dim!) Kevin.
Other stand-out performances come from Kelly’s super dieting mum, Betty, performed by X Factor 2013 winner, Sam Bailey and soap favourites Kevin Kennedy, a.k.a ‘Curly’ Watts in ITV’s flagship soap Coronation Street and Natalie Anderson, who played Alicia Metcalfe in Emmerdale. The music is provided by Nick Lloyd Webber, of the famous composing family.
