A rose tinted glow shone over Southampton as the hit musical, Legally Blonde returned to the Mayflower Stage.
Telling the story of a loveable blonde on her quest for love, Legally Blonde the Musical saw one-time Eurovision hopeful Lucie Jones take on the lead role Elle Woods.
Based on the 00’s Hollywood film, Anthony Williams’ adaptation is filed with bright colours and big smiles as well as topical themes of sexual predation and workplace bullying , sure to keep a range of audiences interested throughout.
However, what really makes this production something for everyone is the humour, with stand out performances from Rita Simmons as Paulette Bonafonte.
Jones also embodies the leading role, with 16 costume changes, fantastic vocals and a likability factor, ensuring you can’t help but root for in the end. And when Elle wins the day, succeeding in her court case on the strength of her fashion and beauty knowledge, and finding true love along the way, the theatre was on its feet celebrating with her.
Legally Blonde is truly a feel good musical that you can’t help but enjoy.
